Over the past year, CFI has been working with Chivorn (pseudonym), one of our students who comes from a difficult background. When he started coming to CFI, we were concerned because he wasn’t engaged in school and was even disruptive in class. Teachers were also concerned about his health and personal hygiene.

In just one semester, Chivorn has changed remarkably! We can see that this transformation is largely a result of the targeted and supportive strategies implemented by his teachers at CFI.

Through consistent encouragement and guidance from his teachers about regular bathing and personal care, Chivorn now comes to school clean and well groomed. This shift has also extended to his behavior. Initially disruptive and inattentive, Chivorn has become a model student.

Teachers had frequently discussed the importance of paying attention in class, the benefits of studying outside of school hours, and provided practical examples to foster better study habits. They encouraged Chivorn to study at home, in the library, or in the garden, which has significantly improved his academic focus and participation.

In his English class, Chivorn has shown considerable progress. He actively tackles challenging quizzes, seeks help when needed, and demonstrates a strong commitment to his studies. His punctuality and regular attendance have set a positive example for his peers. In the library, his choice of advanced books such as កុលាបបៃលិន (Koulap Paylin) and សូផាត (Sophat), Khmer stories written in English, and his outstanding performance in memory tests have impressed his teachers.

Chivorn’s transformation is further highlighted by his engagement in computer class, where he stands out as one of the most proactive students. He frequently helps others, takes the initiative to practice typing in both Khmer and English and assists his teacher with various tasks, showcasing his growth in responsibility and leadership.

Chivorn’s story is a powerful testament to the impact of hard work and perseverance. His progress not only serves as an inspiration to his peers, but also brings immense pride to his teachers. We eagerly anticipate his continued success and development in the coming semesters.
