Education and previous experience: Sophat graduated his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, Battambang Branch (SBU-BB) in 2021, and currently holds a master’s degree in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies (ACTS) from PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA University of Cambodia. He led the Human Library-Narrative project at SBUBB overseeing and leading the editorial team to document narratives from older generations in different communities from 2019-2022. He was a Program Officer at the Cambodia Peace Gallery from 2022-2024. He also has six years of experience teaching English and recently would lecture at various universities in Battambang before taking his role as a Senior Program Operation Officer at CFI.

What do you like about your job?“I find my new role as a Senior Program Operation Officer both rewarding and challenging. I’m working with a big team for our Play and Build programs in Cambodia and as well as liaising with the Enabling Leadership team from India. I’m working to support the Cambodian teams, both Play and Build, dealing with logistics, procurement and preparing financial documents to ensure the smooth flow of the whole program. Though I’m not working directly with students, I believe my role will contribute to enabling young children to be more creative, and critical thinkers, best team players and true leaders in the future.”

How do you like to have fun? “I like watching and playing volleyball and listening to music. I like the playground at CFI where I can come and take a break with nature, fresh air, and a beautiful garden. On Fridays, I enjoy playing volleyball with friends, colleagues, and students in the garden for Fun Friday, creating a sense of mutual understanding, friendship, and fun.”
