This month we had a new social worker to start work with us. Vanna was an intern at CFI and this month joined us as a full-time staff member – another success of our intern program. During this period she completed her first home visit to follow up with families that were impacted by the recent floods.
As a new social worker, Vanna’s work is to respond to case management, visit families regularly, record the data into the online case management system OSCar, respond to cases as directed by the social work manager, coordinate and report, to ensure children are safe, healthy and thriving.
Vanna also supports the team in any way possible, like helping the team to prepare for workshops and training, and supporting the wider CFI teams as needed.
For all of her amazing work, Vanna also faces some challenges where she is learning to prioritize work to keep everyone safe and happy – including her!
“Sometimes I have a lot of work come at once and I can’t focus to get it done because it all over my head I don’t know what to do first. But after the support from the team, I know what is the priority work that has to get done first. ” Vanna says.
She has every passion for what she does. She loves to support families in the community to find a better way to improve their family situation, to keep the children in school, to ensure the children are safe and healthy, and family has what they need.
“I’m so glad to be a part of the CFI social work team and I want to say thank you to the team who always encourages me and shares their experiences to help me improve my skill. I’ve learned a lot from them. ” Vanna says.
